UPDATE: Teenage boy charged following reported assault in Bournemouth

Detectives investigating a reported assault in Bournemouth town centre have charged a teenage boy.

The 16-year-old from Christchurch has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is due to appear before Bournemouth Youth Court in Stafford Road on Tuesday 24 January 2017.

It was reported that at around 3am on Sunday 25 September 2016 a man was walking with three men through the Lower Gardens close to Exeter Road when they were approached by a group of teenagers.

One of the teenage boys allegedly struck victim with a metal belt which was wrapped around his wrist.

The victim – aged in his 30s and from the Finchley area in London – sustained life-changing injuries to his right eye. The matter was reported to Dorset Police on Friday 30 September 2016.
