Reported assault on woman in Bournemouth - investigation launched

An investigation is underway after a woman sustained life-threatening injuries following a reported assault in Bournemouth.

Officers were called at 10.28pm yesterday, Tuesday 13 December 2016, by the ambulance service to reports of a seriously injured woman outside Charminster Supermarket in Charminster Road.

A local woman aged in her 20s was taken to hospital with serious head injuries. Her condition is described as life-threatening.

It is reported that the alleged assault took place at an address in nearby Shelborne Road and the injured woman made her way to the supermarket where calls were made to emergency services.

A 44-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 58-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. They remain assisting officers with enquiries.

The victim and arrested men are known to each other.

An address in Shelborne Road has been cordoned off while crime scene investigators carry out their examinations.

Detective Inspector Neil Wright, of Bournemouth CID, said: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed or heard the incident in Shelborne Road yesterday evening to please contact Dorset Police.

"I would also like to hear from anyone who saw or spoke to the victim as she made her way to the supermarket on Charminster Road."
