Witness appeal following serious injury collision in Bournemouth

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman was injured in a collision in Bournemouth.

At around 5pm today, Wednesday 23 November 2016, a serious injury road traffic collision occurred in New Road close to the Northbourne roundabout involving a pedestrian and a brown Honda Jazz.

The pedestrian – a local 84-year-old woman – sustained serious head injuries and has been taken to Poole Hospital. Her condition is described as serious but stable.

The driver of the Honda – a 79-year-old woman from Ferndown – was not injured. 

New Road is currently closed while emergency services deal with the incident and collision investigators examine the scene. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes.

Police Sergeant Joe Pardey, of the Alliance Road Policing Team, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision and has yet to speak to officers to please contact Dorset Police.”
