Witness appeal following reported robbery in Weymouth

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward after reported robbery in Weymouth.

Between 7.30pm and 8pm yesterday, Sunday 13 November 2016, it is alleged that a man was walking along a path up to Chapelhay Steps when he was hit in the face with an object. 

His mobile phone, keys and wallet were stolen.  

The victim, a 26-year-old local man, sustained serious injuries to his face and remains in hospital receiving treatment.

A 22-year-old man from Portland and a 23-year-old man from Weymouth have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and are currently assisting officers with enquiries.

Detective Constable Gerald Marchant, of Weymouth CID, said: “I am appealing to anyone who saw the incident or witnessed a group of men running away from the area at the relevant time to please contact Dorset Police.”
