UPDATE: Teenage boy arrested following reported assault in Bournemouth

Detectives investigating a reported assault in Bournemouth town centre have arrested a teenage boy.

It was reported that at around 3am on Sunday 25 September 2016 a man was walking with three men through the Lower Gardens close to Exeter Road when they were approached by a group of teenagers.

One of the teenage boys, believed to be aged 15 or 16, allegedly struck the victim with a studded belt which was wrapped around his fist.

The victim – aged in his 30s and from the Finchley area in London – sustained life-changing injuries to his right eye. The matter was reported to Dorset Police on Friday 30 September 2016.

A 16-year-old boy from Christchurch has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries until the middle of January 2017.
