Witness appeal after serious road traffic collision in Poole

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a serious injury road traffic collision between a car and a schoolboy in Poole.

The incident happened at around 8.09am today, Wednesday 12 October 2016, in Sherborn Crescent in the Canford Heath area.

The seven-year-old boy was walking to school with his parents at the time of the collision. He has been taken to Poole Hospital with critical injuries. His parents are with him and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Officers have been speaking with local schools to give reassurances to other parents and to offer support to any children who have been affected by the incident.

The car involved was a silver Peugeot 107. No one else was injured in the incident.

The road has been closed at the junctions with Seatown Close, Henbury Close and Chetnole Close while emergency services deal with the incident. We are advising motorists to please avoid the area.

Inspector Matt Butler, of Dorset Police’s Road Policing Team, said: “It is believed there may have been a number of people in the area at the time of the collision and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened to please contact police.”
