Witness appeal following alleged assault in Weymouth

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward following an alleged assault in Weymouth which left one man with a fractured jaw.

At around 4am on Sunday 18 September 2016 it was reported that a man was assaulted in East Street at the junction of Mitchell Street in the town.

The victim – a 23-year-old man from Sherborne – was left unconscious following the incident, which is alleged to have involved three other men.

He sustained a fractured jaw and was taken to Poole Hospital where he underwent surgery.

Detective Constable Sean Garrett, of Weymouth CID, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information as to what happened to please contact Dorset Police.”

A 19-year-old man from Weymouth has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries until the end of October 2016.
