Appeal for information following public order incident in Bournemouth

30 July 2021
Officers investigating a public order incident in Bournemouth town centre are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The victim, a man aged in his 40s, was walking in The Square at around 11pm on Tuesday 27 July 2021 when he was approached by three men, who asked if he had a lighter. He gave them a lighter and they then asked for a cigarette. When he told them he did not have one, the men became aggressive and abusive toward him.
One of the men began spitting toward the victim and blowing smoke in his face and he was threatened by the group.

The three men made off in the direction of The Triangle.

One of the men is described as white, aged in his 20s and about five feet ten inches tall with short hair. He was wearing dark blue trousers and a grey jacket and spoke with an Eastern European accent.

A second man is described as being of Asian appearance, around five feet ten inches tall and with a goatee beard.

Police Constable Andrea Watson, of Dorset Police, said: “The victim was left feeling very shaken by this incident and we are carrying out a number of enquiries to identify the men responsible.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident, or who has any information that might assist our investigation, to please contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55210120868.
