16 June 2021
Detectives have arrested a man following a CCTV appeal in connection with a reported sexual assault in Bournemouth town centre.

The incident occurred at around 5.40pm on Sunday 13 June 2021 in the Lower Gardens.

The victim, a 16-year-old girl, was walking with a friend when they were approached by a group of men. One of the group asked the victim if she wanted to go for a chat and reportedly led her to an area of bushes near to the crazy golf site, where he sexually assaulted her.

Following enquiries and a CCTV appeal, a 20-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of assault by penetration. He is currently assisting officers with their enquiries.

Detectives are continuing to support the victim as they carry out their investigation. Local officers can be approached by members of the public with any concerns.

We would like to thank the members of the public who came forward and helped with our appeal.
