Witness appeal after assault in Bournemouth

Officers investigating an assault in central Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.

At around 3am this morning, Wednesday 20 July 2016, Dorset Police received a report of a man having been knocked unconscious during an altercation near Bar Me along Old Christchurch Road.

Officers and the ambulance service attended and found a 26-year-old man from Walsall in the West Midlands with serious head injuries. He was taken to Poole Hospital.

Chief Inspector Jim Beashel, of Dorset Police, said: “The victim is white, six feet tall and well built. He has black cropped hair and a tattoo on the arm. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue shorts and blue flip-flops.

“We believe the altercation involved a group of men and a number of people were in the area at the time.

“I am appealing for any witnesses to the incident and anyone with information about those responsible to contact Dorset Police urgently.”
