Witness appeal after alleged assaults in Swanage

Detectives investigating alleged assaults in Swanage are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Sometime between 3am and 4am on Sunday 3 July 2016, an altercation took place between a group of 10 to 15 men and women outside Subway in Station Road.

A 23-year-old man received serious injuries to his face and a 20-year-old woman from Wareham also sustained facial injuries.

Five men have been arrested on suspicion of affray and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries until the middle of August and September.

They are an 18-year-old from Winfrith, a 21-year-old from Swanage and three men aged 20, 21 and 23 who are all from Romania and living in Swanage.

Detective Inspector Andrea Power, from Weymouth CID, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened in Station Road in the early hours of Sunday and have not yet spoken to officers to please contact Dorset Police.”
