Chickerell

Find your neighbourhood

Hi and welcome to the Chickerell Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) who cover Chickerell, Upwey and Broadwey. We conduct regular patrols on foot, cycles and in vehicles so we are accessible to the people that live, work and visit the area.

Through our engagements we are a victim focussed team and work closely with partner agencies to help resolve the policing priorities of the local community.

We conduct a variety of different engagement methods, including; face-to-face meetings, social media interaction (Facebook, Instagram & Twitter), online live chats and individual contact when required. Please do contact us with any issues or concerns that you have in the area and we will endeavour to respond as soon as possible.

We attend as many local events as we can to meet different people and provide updates on what the team have been focusing on and what issues are emerging, providing relevant crime prevention advice and reassurance. If you see us out on patrol, please stop and have a chat or ask any questions that you may have.

Local priorities

Current priorities (last reviewed February 2018):

  1. Anti-social behaviour in Chickerell - particularly the areas of Willowbed Hall and Putton Lane, plus the Victory Hall at Charlestown.  We have increased patrols in the area, and are dealing robustly with offenders, taking a multi agency approach with partner agencies (council ABS team and Housing where appropriate).

Resolved priorities and actions taken:

  1. Will be updated when current priorities are resolved.

Increase in Anti-Social Behaviour at Willowbed Hall
We did
An Anti Social Behaviour drop in was called where residents could speak to us directly to address concerns. This was a really good event where the community were advised on how to report issues to us so that action can then be taken. Off the back of this drop in: Patrols have been stepped up at key times where possible, We are working closely with families involved in Anti-Social Behaviour, An assembly was held at Chickerell Primary to speak to students about Anti Social Behaviour, A drop in session has been set up at Chickerell Primary School so students and staff can talk to us about any issues or concerns they may have. The reports of Anti-Social Behaviour has now decreased however we would still encourage any incidences be reported in to us. This still remains a top priority for the team and we look forward to continue working with the community in tackling Anti-Social Behaviour.

Parking concerns at Chickerell Primary School
We did
Parking issues need to continue to be reported to Dorset County Council which can be done at www.dorsetforyou.gov.uk After some concerns were raised at the Anti Social Behaviour drop in, we contacted Dorset County Council as part of our partnership working and partook in a visible joint patrol with the aim to answer any questions or concerns anyone may have and act as a reminder for people to park considerately. We look to do more of these in the future.
