Purbeck North
Purbeck North is one team, led by Sergeant Paul Upshall. Purbeck is an area of outstanding natural beauty and we are very fortunate to work in such a fantastic location.
The Purbeck North Team covers a large section of rural West Purbeck in addition to the Wareham Town, Sandford, Holton Heath, Organford, Lytchett Minster, Lytchett Matravers, Upton, Morden, Bloxworth, Bere Regis, and Hyde. This is a mixture of rural villages and towns edging on to the greater conurbation area of Poole, also encompassing Wareham forest.
The team consists of PC Harriet Doust, PC Matthew Saunders, PCSO Beth Grew, PCSO Dave Hamilton, PCSO Sarah Hart and PCSO Mike Gowans.

As your local Neighbourhood Policing Team we are continuing to police toward our local priorities and targets, despite the current situation. We would normally be holding face to face engagements with our communities to help us build a better picture around what our local policing priorities should be. We are keen to continue harnessing your community concerns to achieve this. Therefore we have created this quick online survey to help us make an informed decision around our NPT local priorities. Please see the above link which will take directly to our, (very short) survey.

Local Priorities
Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour
Issue Date: 08/01/2021
There are clear and identifiable locations where anti-social behaviour occurs, with a small number of persistent offenders. Although actions last winter saw a large drop in this, with some notable successes, we have seen some displacement.
Action Date: 01/03/2021
We will prevent ASB by using patrolling methods in combination with long-term prevention strategies. We will work with our partners to identify perpetrators and address their behaviour appropriately. We will consult with the communities affected, to ensure we are achieving this aim.
We have achieved some notable successes - reducing the reports of ASB considerably in the Upton area and taking action against persistent offenders. This has reduced the demand from key individuals by over 75%.
Preventing and detecting rural crime
Issue Date: 08/01/2021
Reports of rural crime, from farm thefts to poaching, as well as criminal damage and other illegal activity, are a priority for the Neighbourhood Policing Team. Recorded volumes are low compared with equivalent areas elsewhere, but can represent a considerable loss to a victim.
Action Date: 01/03/2021
We will gather intelligence, engaging with rural communities to ensure that we direct our resources appropriately. We will conduct enforcement and prevention operations, with the aim of protecting victims and reducing the effect rural crime has. We will consult with our communities to ensure we're achieving these aims.
We have set up an online engagement group with members of the rural community, where members can swap advice and information and we can give them our crime prevention messages.
Responding to Coronavirus
Issue Date: 08/01/2021
The Covid-19 pandemic has radically altered the challenges we faced locally over the last year. We are responding to changes in legislation and regulations as they occur.
Action Date: 01/03/2021
We will communicate clearly with our communities regarding regulations and legislation. We will also follow the '4 E's' approach to breaches of legislation (engage, explain, engage and enforce) to maintain trust and confidence. We're also working with our partners to provide the best response possible and keep you safe.
