Rossmore & Alderney

Find your neighbourhood

The Rossmore and Alderney area is connected to the somewhat picturesque Canford Heathland area of Poole. This area has historically suffered issues with heath fires and unauthorised motorbike use. Therefore, during the spring and summer seasons, officers are regularly conducting cycle patrols within this area to combat these issues.

The Rossmore and Alderney ward is predominantly a residential area with various pockets of retail and commercial industrial areas contained within. Officers from the team have been able to build long lasting professional relationships with residents from the community, working closely with community groups such as the Bourne Valley Action Group.

Local priorities

Updated August 2019

Current Priorities:

Criminal Damage to Motor vehicle - There has been an increase in damage to motor vehicles in the area including wing mirrors, scratches and theft of specific vehicle parts.  We also continue as a force to see the issues of theft from unlocked vehicles and would reinforce the message about not leaving valuables in your car and secure your car when you leave it.  Don't make it easy for the thieves.  We have dedicated officers to patrols in the area and work with other police units to identify the suspects for these offences.

ASB Bourne Valley - ASB in the area is continuing its three year decline and the work we have put in means this trend is continuing but we are still mindful of changes and displacement from other areas.  We are working with the Youth Services Teams on the Pop up youth club which is deployed to the area in support of the existing youth provision.  This is a joint effort to engage youths and reduce their influence and impact on a community.  It is the summer holidays and we are increasing patrols through the deployment of other resources to assist.

To do this we need your help; if you have any information on any of the priorities for Poole please get in touch with Dorset Police via 101; through the ‘Do It Online’ link from the force website and pass your information to the NPT.  The more we know about; the more we can do.  Let’s work together to make Poole safer.

You said
Updated August 2019* You are having regular issues with Anti-Social behaviour throughout Poole.
We did
Updated August 2019* We continue to work with our partners and community to improve the area and make it a safe and enjoyable place to live. We have started a new scheme run by BCP Youth Services called the Pop-Up Bus. The small bus will be parked at 5 different locations, on a rotation, on Fridays during the summer. On the bus will be Youth Services, Poole NPT, Safer Schools Communities Team and the ASB team. The aim is to encourage young people in the area to come and get involved in some activities and hopefully prevent them from getting bored and potentially causing ASB.
