How BikeSafe Works

BikeSafe is all about enhancing your riding skills. We will give you an insight into advanced motorcycling then assess your riding and point out any dangerous weaknesses you may have. It is delivered on real roads by real bikers. We won't teach you to suck eggs. But we will look at how you ride and what you can do to make it safer. You may just pick up a tip or two that could save your life one day.

Once you decided to sign up to BikeSafe follow the link to our national BikeSafe website and see what course dates are available. You can then book directly online with the date of your choice. You will receive a confirmation email with all the details you need.

BikeSafe comprises of an initial presentation module on day one followed by the ride out and assessment the following day. We believe that through the use of both theoretical and practical modules this will increase your skills and knowledge. The assessor will take you out onto our local roads and assess your riding over a varied route. This will take 2-3 hours and be based on a maximum three to one ratio of bikers to assessor. Your assessor will plan stops and debriefs along the route and highlight what you're doing right and what you're doing wrong. You can then discuss with the assessor how you can improve and what you need to do to make your riding safer. At the end of each ride-out you will be debriefed again and receive a certificate showing your achievement once you have completed the course.

If you have a motorcycle over 250cc, have held a full motorcycle licence for over 6 months and want to learn from the best riders that there are on the roads then read on and come and join us. Together we can make a difference in reducing biking casualties in Dorset.
