The Dorset Road Safety Department have provided the following information:
Please can you provide the following:
- The total number of speeding tickets handed out to drivers in your constabulary between 1st January 2021 and 1st January 2022.
- This information should include the collated total number of fines for drivers of cars, HGVs, LCVs, Buses and Motorcycles that exceeded the outlined speeding limit.
Total = 44,985

For Non Camera offences
We issue Traffic Offence Reports (TOR’s) which result in ‘Home Office Road Traffic Form’ (HORT1), ‘Vehicle Defect Rectification Scheme’ (VDRS), ’Education’, ‘Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty’ or ‘Court’.
For Camera offences
We issue Notices of Intended Prosecution (NIP’s) which result in, ‘Education’, ‘Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty’ or ‘Court’.
The data therefore identifies the number of NIPs / TORs processed at the Central Ticket Office where the outcome is one of ‘Education’, ‘Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty’ or ‘Court’.
Education courses = £120 course fee.
Fixed Penalty = £100 fine + 3 Penalty points.
Court = Sanction applied by the court.
The data does not include where TOR’s have been issued but to date have not been processed within the Central Ticket Office
