What is the timeframe requirements for Police Officers to undertake their Job Related Fitness Test?
You must complete your JRFT every/within 12 months. In exceptional circumstances you can be risk-assessed for 3 months (up-to a maximum of 15 months)
Upon reaching 15 months since completion of JRFT you must become non-deployable until you are able to attend and successfully complete.

For those officers who have been unable to undertake their JRFT due to physical injury, health reasons, what management actions / support is provided to officers and Police staff to fulfil their job description and ensure management of performance?
Firstly, we have a Force Fitness Trainer who is on hand to provide both advice and support for undertaking the JRFT. They may recommend certain methods of training and advice on certain stretches etc. for further injury prevention.
Officers and staff can also be referred to NHS Occupational Health, who provide both telephone and face to face appointments. Support should also be offered by the individual’s line management.

Is there a Policy for Job Related Fitness Testing? Please share the policy
“JRFT/ PST - you must complete your refresher training within 12 months. In exceptional circumstances you can be risk-assessed for 3 months (up-to a maximum of 15 months) .Upon reaching 15 months since completion of training you must become non-deployable until you are able to attend and successfully complete a refresher course
Please note: if you are a PSU officer you will become non-deployable for Mutual Aid at 12 months since your last PST course and cannot be risk assessed for deployments outside of Dorset.”
Does this policy allow Police Officers and/or Police Staff opportunities to re-taking their test within an agreed time?
Yes - 3 attempts with at least 6 weeks in between each test to allow for additional support and guidance unless guidance from Occupational Health is different.
How should line managers support their Police Officers and Police Staff members? What is the expected approach?
Line managers are expected to encourage their staff to consider all aspects of their wellbeing including encouraging exercise and keeping fit enough for the test every year. Local fitness leads can give advice if required.
