Heating oil thefts

The Performance Analysis Department has provided the following information:
Searches were completed in Niche from 01/10/2023 to 10/03/2026 for all crimes with a main crime group of Theft, Dwelling Burglary, or Burglary Other and that contained the phrase ‘heating oil’ in the occurrence enquiry log entry text or the occurrence summary.
Please note that the use of the keywords is reliant on the presence of the keyword/phrase in the exact way it is input, and any occurrences which referred to heating oil in other terms or with incorrect spelling will not have pulled through. There is no separate offence reflecting the theft of heating oil.
- Total Incidents: The total number of reported thefts of heating oil in Dorset (including domestic and commercial) for each month from October 2023 to March 2026 inclusive.
Please note if any months/years are missing from the returned data, then this means it was a nil return for that month/year.

Searches were completed using a keyword search for the phrase ‘oil’ and ‘interfere’ or ‘attempt’. The returned data was reviewed for relevance and this resulted a nil return.
- Outcome Status: A breakdown of the outcomes for these reports (e.g., Charged, Investigation Complete: No Suspect Identified, Pending).
The Latest Stats Class Status applied to all crimes identified in question 1 is ‘18: Investigation complete no suspect identified’
