The Road Safety Team has provided the following information:
To clarify on the below request, please could the age breakdown pertain to the age of the driver. So number of serious & fatal collisions where a 17-24 year old was behind the wheel, same for 45-55 year olds, and then all ages.
The number of fatal and serious collisions broken down by year, 2024, 2025 and 2026 to date for:
• 17-24 year olds (or to the nearest available age breakdown)
• 45-55 year olds (or to the nearest available age breakdown)
• All ages (total)
If unable to provide the data broken down in the above age categories, please provide it to the closest age grouping available (e.g. 40-50).
Fatal and Serious Injury Collisions where at least one of the drivers involved fits the age band shown. The data does not include medical episodes off-road collisions or confirmed suicides.
Data Limitations:
The figures for 2025 and 2026 figures are subject to change until the Department for Transport publishes the annual reports.
