3) The number of stabbings which have happened in Christchurch from Jan 2020 - Present broken down monthly
The Performance Analysis Department have provided the following information.
The data was retrieved by searching within Niche for crimes with the following criteria:
- Main Crime Group: Violence Against The Person
- Knife Crime Flag: Y
- Occurrence Summary or OEL containing the keywords ‘stabbing’ or ‘stabbed’
- Crime filter applied
- Weapon Used: ‘Knife/blade (used/threatened)’
- Add. LA Area: Bmth, Poole, X Ch
Please note that whilst these crimes are flagged as ‘stabbing’, some won’t be stabbings in the traditional sense of the word and may include animals as well as humans.
Additionally, due to the crime recording statistics anything where a cut occurs, and it is alleged a weapon was used will be classed as stabbing.
All records have been manually reviewed to ensure data is as accurate to the term ‘stabbing’ as possible.
