Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request ref: 01/FIN/25/002821/A
Version Date: 20/02/2025
The Dorset Road Safety Team have provided the following information.
Please note:
For offences detected by Automatic Speed Detection Cameras both Static and Mobile- Dorset Police issue Notices of Intended Prosecution (NIP’s) which result in, EDUCATION, CONDITIONAL OFFER OF FIXED PENALTY or COURT.
For offences detected other than Automatic Speed Detection Cameras i.e. Officer issued Tickets - Dorset Police issue paper Traffic Offence Reports (TOR’s) or submit Digital Traffic Offence Reports (PRONTO) which result in HORT1, VDRS, EDUCATION, CONDITIONAL OFFER OF FIXED PENALTY or COURT.
The data therefore identifies the number of NIPs / TORs / PRONTO processed at the Central Ticket Office where the outcome is one of EDUCATION, CONDITIONAL OFFER OF FIXED PENALTY or COURT.
These figures do not include cancelled offences, offences dealt with outside of the Central Ticket office i.e. Charged within the custody system or TOR’s dealt with by the Traffic Prosecution Unit as multiple endorsable offences.
The data does not include TORs or PRONTO submissions which have been issued/submitted by officers, but to date have not been processed within the CTO.
The offences detailed “Speeding - exceed 5 / 18 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 mph limit for a goods vehicle - manned equipment” relate to TORs issued by Police officers where a speed limit value has not been provided.
