Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request ref: 01/FIN/25/2832
Version Date: 21/02/2025
The Dorset Road Safety Department have provided the following information.
I am requesting information regarding the speed limits on Ringwood Road, dual carriageway, BH11 8NH, Bournemouth, Dorset. Specifically, I would like to know
How long this section of the road has been under the 40mph speed limit.
Information not held – This question need to be submitted to the relevant Local Authority
Additionally, I am seeking the exact date when the speed limit was reduced from 40mph to 30mph.
The Amendment Orders to revoke the 40 mph speed limit was sealed on 9th May 2023, with an effective date of 15th May 2023.
Furthermore, I would appreciate it if you could provide data on the number of speeding tickets issued by the speed camera located at BH11 8NH during the three months before the speed limit was reduced (when it was still 40mph)
None
As well as the number of tickets issued during the three months following the change to the 30mph limit.
None
Please Note.
There was no enforcement of the speed limit (Either 40MPH or the reduced 30MPH) on the A348 Ringwood Road, West Howe between 01/05/2022 and 22/02/2024
We allow a minimum of 6 months to pass from a change of speed limit (increase or decrease) before we allow any enforcement.
The reason we allow the 6 month grace period is for motorists to be accustomed with the new speed threshold.
