Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request ref: 01/FIN/25/3575
Version Date: 29/08/2025
The Central Ticket Office have provided the following information.
I would like to make an FOI request to find out the number of drivers that have received fines for driving without a valid MOT certificate.
I would like the data to include how much money the fine was for and whether the fine has been paid or if it was dismissed.
Please provide data for the last 12 months (July 2024 – August 2025).
Dorset Police do not hold data in respect of fines and this part of the request should be redirected to His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service
The Central Ticket Office can provide data relating to the number of TOR/Pronto tickets issued by Dorset Police for driving without a valid MOT certificate.
The table below identifies the number of TORs / PRONTO where the outcome is one of CONDITIONAL OFFER OF FIXED PENALTY or COURT.

The offence of no MOT attracts a £100 non endorsable fine should the offender comply with the conditional offer of a fixed penalty.
If the matter proceeds to court either by a police officer recommending the matter be heard in court, the offender elects to have the matter heard in court or the offender fails to comply with the conditional offer of fixed penalty then any fine will be determined by the Magistrate at any subsequent the hearing.
