Mobile phone theft

Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request ref: 01/FIN/25/2743

The Performance & Analysis Department have provided the following information.

To obtain this data, we searched within the Niche Crime database for all crimes with the Main Crime Groups of ‘theft’ or ‘robbery’, where the General Property Description was ‘Mobile phones & accessories’, and the Property Link Classification was ‘stolen’.

This may not always capture accurate data as these fields may not be filled in on Niche, however it would save having to rely on keyword searches, or manual reviews of theft occurrences.

I’m looking for information on the reported number of stolen mobile phones in Dorset from the following dates:

- Between 1st January 2023 to 31st December 2023.
- From 1st January 2024 to 31st December 2024.

Here are my following questions:

- How many mobile phones were reported stolen during the two time frames?

- Which areas had the most reports of the stolen mobile phones and how many in the two time frames?

Please can the data be shared for each month of the years requested
