Hotel theft

The Performance & Analysis Department have provided the following information.

We have searched the Niche Crime database for Theft, Theft from motor vehicle and Burglary (Dwelling & Other) crimes that have the location of Hotel/Motel or Guest house.

Please note, we have taken out any “Attempted” thefts and/or burglaries.

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding hotel crime. Specifically, I’d be grateful if you could provide the following:

1. The total count of theft, burglary, and robbery incidents, with a location code of ‘hotel’, ‘motel’ and ‘guest house’ in your police area between 2019 and 2024.

2. Where available, a breakdown of the types of theft, such as:
o Theft from a person
o Theft from hotel rooms
o Burglary
o Vehicle theft in hotel car parks 

3. If recorded, data on the estimated value of stolen goods in these incidents.

The values below are taken from the “Original Property Value” field.

However, this is not a mandatory field so is not always populated.

Of the 765 offences only 43 have a value recorded
