Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request ref: 01/FIN/25/003494/N
Version Date: 12/08/2025
The Operations and Finance Departments have provided the following information.
I would like know how dangerous dogs that have to be held in a kennel are dealt with. Are they kept within the county and do the kennels make an annual charge for the dogs or charge for the dogs individually?
The dogs are kept at various kennels both in and out of county. Generally kennels charge monthly to house the dogs.
I would also like to know how much the contracted kennels charge for these services.
The table below shows the total cost of kennelling for 2024/25 and 2025/26 to date. Generally costs for kennelling dogs ranges from £40 to £50 per day with additional costs charged for vet fees and other services.
| Financial Year | 2024/25 | 2025/26 |
| Dangerous Dog Costs | £107,1246 | £33,784 |
The information I require is for the current or latest year you have available.
