Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request ref: 01/FIN/24/2053
Version Date: 12/06/2024
The Central Ticket Office have provided the following information.
Dorset Police issue paper Traffic Offence Reports (TOR’s) or submit Digital Traffic Offence Reports (PRONTO) which result in HORT1, VDRS, Education, Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty or Court.
Dorset Police issue Notices of Intended Prosecution (NIP’s) following submission of Digital footage received under the auspices of Operation Snap which result in Education, Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty or Court.
The offences in question are NOT applicable for an education outcome. The data therefore identifies the number of Op Snap NIPs / TORs / PRONTO processed at the Central Ticket Office where the outcome is one of Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty or Court.
The data does not include Op Snap NIP’s, TORs or PRONTO submissions which have been issued/submitted but to date have not been processed within the CTO.
Dorset Police do not hold data in respect of fines and this part of the request should be redirected to His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service for data regarding number of fines.
I am requesting a breakdown of the number of fixed penalty notices issued by your police force to owners of vans for mobile phone use while driving, and the value of fines issued for these offenses. I am requesting figures for the period March 2022 – December 2023.
In particular, can you provide me with:
1. The total number of fixed penalty notices issued by your police force to owners of vans for mobile phone use while driving, from March 2022-December 2022.
2. The total value of fines issued as a result of these offenses, from March 2022-December 2022.
3. The total number of fixed penalty notices issued by your police force to owners of vans for mobile phone use while driving, from January 2023-December 2023.
4. The total value of fines issued as a result of these offenses, from January 2023-December 2023.
These figures do not include cancelled offences.
Dorset Police do not hold data in respect of class of vehicle therefore the make and model, where recorded has been reviewed to identify vans
