The Performance & Analysis Department have provided the following information.

We have run a search for Theft of Motor Vehicle offences within Niche Crime and then cross referenced them within Storm incident universe to see which of the incidents an officer was dispatched to.

1) How many incidents of theft of a motor vehicle were reported to your force in the following calendar years: 2023, 2022 and 2021.

2) How many of those reports resulted in an officer attending the scene in the following calendar years: 2023, 2022 and 2021.

Theft of a Motor Vehicle is categorised as a volume crime and is often placed into a queue that closes incidents before staff are then dispatched.

Dorset Police uses a blend of remote attendance or in person attendance, but this data is not represented within dispatch statistics.

The average time (in hours:minutes:second) it takes for police to arrive on the scene of 'theft of a motor vehicle' incidents in your force for the following calendar years: 2023, 2022 and 2021.

The average annual time is not recorded

Under FOI, a public authority is not obliged to calculate or create information in order to comply with a request. The Act only covers information held at the time the request was received.
