The Performance Analysis Department have provided the following information:
Specifically, I would like to know how many offences have been recorded under the new non-fatal strangulation offence (s75A Serious Crime Act 2015 (as amended by Domestic Abuse Act 2021), since it was introduced in June 2022. Please provide the following information:
1. How many crimes of non-fatal strangulation (s75A Serious Crime Act 2015) have you recorded between 7 June 2022 and the most recent date for which data is available?
Data provided for 7 June 2022 and 30 April 2024 - manual review required to distinguish between suffocation and strangulation offences.
This includes ALL such crimes recorded, whether or not they are currently under investigation
