The Performance Analysis Department have provided the following information.

Since 1 January 2020 to 1 November 2024, how many people has your force arrested following allegations that they have assaulted an emergency worker - offence code 00873?
The offence code for assaulting an emergency worker is as follows:
TEW Violence against the person 8.22 Assault of an emergency worker 00873 00873 - Assault or assault by beating of an emergency worker
and relates to Section 67 of the Sentencing Act 2020.
Please provide a breakdown of the number of arrests per calendar year.
Crimes with HO stats code 008/73 and SC Description of 'Assault by beating of an emergency worker (recordable)'.
Please note that data for after 2021 has resulted in a nil return. This may be due to a change in the HO stats code.
