Version Date: 03/07/2023
The Road Safety Department have provided the following information.
On your website (Digital Cameras - Dorset Road Safe Partnership) you state, relating to the redflex speed cameras, "Receding only (driving away) but capability for both directions"
1. Is this still the case?
Yes, in respect of Redflex fixed cameras
2. Does the same apply to any other types of fixed speed camera used on Dorset’s roads?
Dorset Police operate one other type of fixed Average Speed Cameras at one site. These are situated on a dual carriageway and detect speed of receding vehicles only (driving away).
3. (In relation to redflex or any other type of fixed speed camera) Are there any intentions to activate both ways and if so what date is planned for this?
No current plans however this will be driven by operational demand.
