Child seat driving offences

The Central Ticket Office have provided the following information.

1. How many motorists were caught for travelling with children illegally without a child car seat in 2022 and 2023 year to date?
a. Including a month-by-month breakdown

2. How many motorists were caught driving without the correct child car seat in 2022 and 2023 year to date?
a. Including a month-by-month breakdown

Please note this data relates to Traffic Offence Reports which have been processed through the Central Ticket Office and which relate to:

• CCCJ Offence code RT88514 Drive motor vehicle with child under 3 not wearing rear seatbelt / using correct child seat.
• CCCJ Offence code RT88515 Drive motor vehicle seat belt fitted, with child over 3 but under 14, not wearing seat belt. (Note child aged between 3 and 12 years must use the correct child / booster seat until reaching 135cm)

Both offences are Non – Endorsable offences which attract a £100 fine (No Penalty Points)

4. How much were the total fines issued to motorists driving without the correct child car seat in 2022 and 2023 year to date?

His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) are responsible for administering fines and the request should be referred to HMCTS regarding total fines.
