Appeal after serious collision on A35 in Dorchester

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following a serious road traffic collision on the A35 in Dorchester.

The collision occurred close to the junction with the A352 between the Stinsford roundabout and football club roundabout at around 9.10am this morning, 1 March 2016.

A silver Landrover Freelander was in collision with a blue Vauxhall Zafira.

The 43-year-old female driver of the Zafira suffered minor injuries, a female passenger aged in her 60s sustained life-threatening injuries and a 14-month-old girl suffered serious injuries. They were all from the Portland area. The driver of the Landrover, a 69-year-old woman from London, suffered minor injuries.

All four were taken to Dorset County Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for several hours to allow collision investigators to examine the scene.

Police Constable Mike Henstridge, of Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw the manner of driving of either vehicle immediately before the incident, to please call me on 101.

“I would also like to thank motorists for their patience whilst the road was closed to allow collision investigation to take place and the recovery of the vehicles.”
