Current Priorities

You are telling us that the following issues are a priority in your area:

PRIORITY
1 - Theft from unattended motor vehicles - There has been an increase in the number of thefts from vehicles across Poole. Over half of all the vehices broken into in the area were unlocked at the time of the crime, meaning that these thefts could have been easily prevented had the owner taken simple precautions.

To reduce the risk of having your car broken into, you should always check that their vehicle is locked and all windows are closed before leaving it unattended. Items left in vehicles - such as sat-navs and loose change - are a target to thieves. These should be removed altogether as thieves will often watch people hiding their valuables before breaking into the vehicle. Any evidence of valuable items - such as sat-nav suction cups - should also be removed.

2 - Dwelling burglaries - there has been an increase in burglaries in the area. Safer Neighbourhood officers are carrying out extra patrols in affected areas and are using intelligence to target offenders.

Officers are also disseminating crime advice and updates via leaflets, signs, twitter and community messaging.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant - the warmer weather often brings an increase in distraction burglaries such as bogus water and gas officials. Look out for your elderly and vulnerable  neighbours and call the police on 101 if you see anything suspicious. This number is for non-emergencies only. If a crime is in progress or life is in danger, please dial 999.
