Current Priorities

You are telling us that the following issues are a priority in your area:

PRIORITY (January 2013)

You are saying ... That in the Town Centre and Lansdowne area, there are lots of homeless people begging.

We are doing ... We have increased patrols and conducted plain clothes operations. Arrested offenders, additionally we have worked closely with our partners  Crime Reduction Initiative, Street Services to encourage people to engage with agencies to support them in order to reduce street begging. We have also used powers under the Anti Social Behaviour Act 2003 to disperse offenders. We have issued over 100 in the last 6 months.

You are saying ... That people are street drinking in the Town Centre day and night.

We are doing ... We have been granted a DPPO (Designated Public Place Order), this allows police to remove alcohol from people drinking in the street and acting anti socially. We carry out patrols and refer street drinkers to other agencies. We identify main offenders and through our partners apply for Anti Social Behaviour Orders and Acceptable Behaviour Contracts. Since October 2012 we have issued 150 dispersals under Section 27 Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006.

You are saying ... People are dealing drugs on the street and from premises.

We are doing ... We have carried out plain clothes patrols to gather intelligence and detect offenders. We work closely with housing providers to evict offenders. In the last 3 months your SNT have executed 5 Misuse of Drugs warrants
