The boat, a white and blue Bonwitco 495 moulded plastic fishing vessel, was taken while mounted on a galvanised iron trailer parked on the roadside outside the location.

Police Constable Richard White, of Portland Marine Section, said: “This theft has understandably caused a lot of distress and upset to the owners.

“I am keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or may have information about the offender or the whereabouts of the boat and trailer.

“The boat has a large Suzuki branded engine on the rear and is quite distinctive in appearance, and I would also urge anyone who may have purchased or been offered a boat for an unusually low price, or in suspicious circumstances, to contact Dorset Police in confidence.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 30:398. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
