Witness appeal after spate of fires in Bournemouth

Officers in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after a number of incidents of arson in the West Howe area of the town.

Wheelie bins have been deliberately set alight between 2am and 3am on Sunday 23 July and Sunday 30 July 2012 in Moore Avenue, Springwater Road, Montgomery Avenue and Cunningham Crescent.

Detective Constable Scott Brimicombe, of Bournemouth CID, said: “These fires have been close to residential properties causing a considerable risk to the public.

“Three teenage boys were seen in the area where one of the fires was started and I am keen to speak with them about these incidents as they may have information which will help my investigation.

“I would urge anyone with information, or who has seen anything suspicious in the West Howe area, to contact me urgently.”

Residents are encouraged to be vigilant and where possible to put their wheelie bins somewhere safe and secure.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 27:324. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
