Following a recent increase in car crime offences in
Poole, Dorset Police is encouraging drivers to make sure they take
simple steps to keep their cars secure across the
town.
A total of 181 car crime offences took place in Poole between
Friday 15 June and Tuesday 24 July 2012.
These were for offences of theft from a
vehicle and theft of a vehicle.
Poole Safer Neighbourhood Officer, Police
Constable Suzie Corsie-Mackay, said: “We have seen a rise in car
crime in recent weeks across Poole.
“As a result, I am encouraging motorists to
ensure they do not leave their cars unlocked.
“On some occasions, members of the public are
leaving their cars completely unlocked allowing thieves to simply
open the car door and steal whatever is inside or drive the car
away.
“Never leave valuable items unattended in your
car. Remember, if you leave nothing behind there is nothing to
steal.”
If members of the public see a crime in
progress they should dial 999 immediately and report it to the
police.
