Murder investigation in Bournemouth - Further appeal

Detectives in Bournemouth investigating an alleged murder in the Boscombe area of the town are renewing their appeal for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.

At approximately 2.26am on Wednesday 25 July 2012, Dorset Police received a report by the ambulance service that a man had been seriously injured at an address at the junction of Roumelia Lane and Sea Road.

Officers and the ambulance service attended and the victim, believed to be a 21-year-old man from London, was declared dead at the scene. He had sustained a gun shot wound. The deceased has not yet been formally identified.

Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Connolly, of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Team, said: “We are still investigating the circumstances of this death but I believe this was a pre-planned and targeted attack by a number of offenders.

“We are following various lines of enquiries in an extensive investigation and have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with this incident who is helping us with our enquiries.

I would like to reassure the local community that there is no immediate concern for the safety of the public.

“I would like to renew my earlier appeals and urge any witnesses and anyone with information to contact Dorset Police in confidence as soon as possible.

“Any information might be of significance and help our investigation.

“I am especially keen to speak with anyone who saw anything suspicious or unusual in the area of Windsor Road, Roumelia Lane, Cecil Road and Sea Road between midnight and 4am on Wednesday 25 July 2012.”
