Updated appeal following murder in Bournemouth

Detectives in Bournemouth are renewing their appeal for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following the death of a man in the Boscombe area of the town.

At approximately 2.26am on Wednesday 25 July 2012, Dorset Police received a report that a man had been seriously injured at an address in Roumelia Lane in the Boscombe area of the town.

Officers attended and the body of a man was discovered.

Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Connolly, of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Team, said: “I can confirm that we are treating this death as suspicious and have launched a murder investigation.

“I understand that the victim, a man believed to be in his twenties, sustained a gun shot wound.

“The investigation is still in its early stages and we are following various lines of enquiries.

“I would urge any witnesses and anyone with information to contact Dorset Police as soon as possible.

“I am especially keen to speak with anyone who saw anything suspicious or unusual in the area of Winsor Road, Roumelia Lane, Cecil Road and Sea Road between midnight and 4am this morning, Wednesday 25 July 2012.

“I would like to reassure members of the public that an extensive investigation is ongoing and there is no immediate concern for the safety of the community.”

The deceased man has not yet been formally identified. Next of kin are aware and the Coroner has been notified.
