Appeal for witnesses after Bridport burglary

Detectives in Bridport are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following a burglary in the town.

The incident happened at around 4pm on Tuesday 12 June 2012 at a property on West Street.

After gaining entry to the premises, two men assaulted the occupant before making off with jewellery and clothing.

The victim, a local woman aged 45, suffered soreness to her face in the incident.

Detective Constable Gavin Roy, of County CID, said: “This is a particularly nasty and callous incident which has understandably caused the victim a lot of distress.

“I am keen to hear from anybody who may have seen any suspicious behaviour by two men leading up to and possibly during the time of the incident.

“I am also interested to hear from members of the public who may have seen these two men getting into a white car-derived van which was parked outside Ladbrokes in West Street around this time.

“I would urge anyone with information that can help with this investigation to phone Dorset Police on 101.”

The victim has described the first offender as being black, aged around 20 with short afro hair, of stocky build and wearing a baseball cap.

The second man is described as white, aged around 30, and around six feet tall.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 12:409. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
