Welcome to Bournemouth Central Section

Inspector Dean O'Connor - © Dorset Police All Rights ReservedCentral Bournemouth is bright, vibrant and multicultural, and includes large residential areas, a busy town centre and beaches that have won four Blue Flag awards.

It has a population that increases substantially when visitors and workers are taken into account.

The ethos of policing in Central Bournemouth is one of high visibility patrols to help make the town safer and feel safer.

With the introduction of Safer Neighbourhood Teams they provide a regular and highly visible on-street presence, tackling issues of concern to the communities they serve.

You can find out about your local Safer Neighbourhood Team by following this link >

Crime levels within Central Bournemouth have decreased during the past three years. There were 5,444 recorded crimes in 2010/11, a small increase to 6,083 recorded crimes in 2011/12 and a reduction to 4,874 recorded crimes in 2012/13. This is an overall reduction in recorded crime of around 11% over the past three years in Central Bournemouth and represents 570 fewer victims of crime than there were three years ago.

Like many other urban locations across the UK, the challenge in policing a popular town centre containing many pubs and clubs are unsurprisingly dealing effectively with alcohol linked offending, disorder and anti-social behaviour.

We remain focussed on intelligence led policing, using information and crime analysis to direct our patrolling officers. While reducing crime in the area and increasing the number of offenders brought to justice.
