Canford Heath Safer Neighbourhood Previous Priorities
You told us that the following issues were
a priority in your area:
| You Said ... Anti Social Behaviour – Adastral
Square. (Updated April 2013) |
| Residents of Canford Heath have raised the issue of young
people gathering at the entrance of ASDA, Culliford Crescent.
The general anti-social behaviour of a small number of young
people is leaving customers feeling uneasy and sometimes
intimidated. |
|
We Did ... High visibility patrols were
conducted around the area of Adastral Square, Mitchell Road and
Scarf Road. The main issues that were encountered were linked to
young people persistently playing football around the area, kicking
the ball against shop windows and shutters and also nuisance
motorbikes being ridden over the square.
The SNT
seized a motor bike from a youth who was persistently riding it
across the square and another youth was arrested at Adastral Square
for stealing a car. Large groups of young people gathering were
directed to leave the area and those who persistently caused
ASB were spoken to
in front of parents.
As a result of the additional patrols in the
area reports of ASB have reduced from 5 in
February 2013 to only 1 incident in March 2013.

| You Said ... Anti Social Behaviour – Verity
Park. (Updated April 2013) |
| Residents of Canford Heath have raised the issue of young
people gathering in the area of Adastral Square, Adastral Road
as well as incidents of criminal damage in this localised area.
Issues have been reported in surrounding roads of motorcycles
allegedly used in an anti-social manner and causing a noise
nuisance in the later evenings. |
|
We Did ... High visibility patrols were
conducted in the general area of Verity Park. The main issues
identified were underage drinking and threatening behaviour towards
users of the Scout Hall. The CCTV camera that covered the
area of Verity Park and the skate park was used to identify those
causing ASB and to
direct police to the main offenders. Youths that were drinking
alcohol underage had the alcohol seized from them. The
SNT and local
council are currently considering ASBO applications for the
persistent offenders of ASB. There were a couple of
youths on separate occasions who were stopped and searched as they
were suspected of possessing cannabis. Cannabis was seized from
these youths and they have received restorative reprimands with a
condition to participate on a drug awareness course.
Incidents of ASB at Verity Park have
significantly reduced with no further reports of targeted
ASB toward the
Scouts since the 19 February 2013.

| You Said ... Anti Social Behaviour –Thorncombe
Close & Chedington Close. (Updated December 2012) |
| A couple of addresses were frequently having noisy parties and
gatherings were taking place. This impacted significantly on how
safe you felt living near these locations. Some residents also
complained about drunken adults passing through the area behaving
in an aggressive and abusive manner and felt intimidated by this
behaviour. |
|
We Did ... Your local Safer Neighbourhood Team
notified the Borough of Poole ASB Team and Housing Provider. We
engaged fully with all residents to identify the persons
responsible and their associates. These people were closely
monitored and found to be causing a nuisance at their address and
in the locality of Canford Heath affecting the wider community.
Thanks to partnership working, information sharing, the residents
support and community spirit the main offender and his associates
have been served with an eviction notice. There have been no
further incidents since the eviction notice and the persons are due
to leave mid January.
This has fully resolved the issue in
Chedington Close. To continue the work undertaken and resolve the
same issue in Thorncombe Close your local Safer Neighbourhood Team
is keeping Thorncombe Close as a priority. PC 2573 Rich Jeffery will be the lead
on this issue for the Canford Heath Safer Neighbourhood Team and
encourages residents to make contact.

| You Said ... Nuisance Motorcycles Red
Brick Path. (Updated December 2012) |
| Residents have complained to Police about motor bikes using the
red brick path as a cut through. The motorbikes either cut through
onto the heathland from the area of Chedington Close and ride up on
to the heath, or they cut through from Redhoave Road into Halstock
Crescent across the path. This issue causes significant concerns
for the safety of members of public using this path. There are
other concerns raised as the path runs onto the heath which is a
very delicate environment which is susceptible to regular heathland
fires |
|
We Did ... Your local Safer Neighbourhood Team
has conducted numerous patrols in this area to try and detect these
offences and identify the persons responsible. The incidents
reported have been linked to ASB at Thorncombe Close. This
matter will be dealt with as part of our Thorcombe Close Priority.
Please report all incidents to your local Safer Neighbourhood Team.
PC 2573 Rich Jeffery
will be the lead on this issue for the Canford Heath Safer
Neighbourhood Team and encourages residents to make contact.
