Current Priorities
You are telling us that the following issues are a
priority in your area:
| PRIORITY |
|
You are saying... The growing amount of
graffiti around the subways and dead end roads in Charminster
leading to the Wessex Way is becoming an issue. Residents are
worried that it will encourage more anti social behaviour and
criminal damage.
We are doing... Directed patrols by
dedicated anti social behaviour police teams and increased high
visibility patrols by the local Safer Neighbourhood team. We are
gathering evidence for future prosecutions and liaising
with the Bournemouth Borough Council graffiti team. We have
liaised with local councillors to identify a long term,
partnership solution. We are working to educate young people
on the nuisance of graffiti.
|
|
You are saying... Crime statistics and feedback
from victims of crime have clearly indicated a current burglary
issue in the Charminster area, affecting both residential
and commercial properties.
We are doing... High visibility,
reassurance and preventative patrols in the area as well as plain
clothes patrols in targeted areas. Burglary information packs have
been distributed to every household in Charminster and free home
security surveys have been carried out by the local Safer
Neighbourhood team. A dedicated team of officers is also working on
this issue focusing on intelligence, crime scene investigation
results and suspected offenders.
|
|
You are saying... That anti-social behaviour
and related behaviour by vagrants around the shopping area on
Charminster Road is a problem. A rise in youth anti-social
behaviour has been identified now that there is a lack of youth
facilities in the local area.
We are doing... Directed patrols by
dedicated anti social behaviour police teams and increased high
visibility patrols by the local Safer Neighbourhood team. We have
liaised with local proprietors to identify the worst affected areas
and the individuals involved. We have worked with Street Services
to offer support and guidance to improve the quality of life for
individuals involved. We have asked Bournemouth Borough Council to
improve the area including tidying up where these individuals
frequent. We have worked with the local Big Issue office to
move the pitch outside Tesco Express in Charminster Road.
Anti-social behaviour contracts have been issued to problem
individuals and evidence towards anti-social behaviour orders or
criminal anti-social behaviour orders is currently being
gathered. We have identified a lack of youth facilities in the area
and we are working closely with the relevant partner agencies to
address the problem.
