Current PACT Priorities

You are telling us that the following issues are priorities in your area:

PRIORITY (February 2013)

You are saying ... Concerns about the opening of a youth drop-in centre in Wyke Gardens and the possible increase in anti-social behaviour (ASB)

We are doing ... The Safer Neighbourhood Team have attended the meetings regarding the setting up of the drop-in and are working with the council and youth services to remain up to date on the progress of the project.  A representative from the local residents was also invited to attend to keep communication open so they are able to easily raise any concerns.  Work is due to start soon on the building and the Safer Neighbourhood Team will continue to patrol the Gardens and engage with any youths to encourage them to use the facilities once open.  We will be encouraging residents to report any problems that occur so that any issues can be dealt with.

Increase Home Watch groups in the area.

We are doing ... We are looking to increase Home Watch co-ordinators in the Wyke area. This will be done by face to face contact, advertising in Wyke register and PACT meetings. In areas where there are community problems we will be looking for a Home Watch co-ordinator to disseminate any information. SNT will also be offering the chance for members of public to be signed up to ‘ringmaster’ – a system where police can share local information with the community through means of e-mail/phone message/fax etc. This will keep the community up to date with what is happening in the local area.
