Current PACT Priorities
You are telling us that the following issues are
priorities in your area:
| PRIORITY |
|
You are
saying ... Inconsiderate parking around St. Marks
School.
We are doing ... Inconsiderate parking
around St Marks School is being looked at by both the local
officers and working alongside the councils civil enforcement
officers in January at a targeted week of awareness throughout all
schools in the Christchurch area.
|
|
You are saying ... Cycling on the
pavement.
We are doing ... Both uniform and plain
clothes patrols are targeting the area in question. Those
caught cycling on the pavements are being made aware of the dangers
both to themselves and members of the public. Where necessary
tickets will be issued, in particular to those who are found to be
persistent offenders. In addition Police Officers will be
monitoring the way in which bicycles are being ridden and ensuring
that lights are being displayed during the hours of darkness.
Advice with regard to safety issues will be passed on to cyclists
in an effort to reduce bicycle thefts. The local SNT will also be
going into the schools to raise the awareness and concerns.
|
|
You are saying ... Seasonal spate of
burglaries.
We are doing ... The recent upsurge in
burglaries both domestic and commercial is being vigorously tackled
with increased patrols in the affected areas and security advice
has been offered to the recent victims. A general leaflet
drop (Quickstrike) has already been done in the streets where the
burglaries have recently occurred. These leaflets advise
residents of the steps they can take to minimise their chances of
becoming a victim and what to look out for if they are aware that
neighbours are not at home. In addition, the leaflets give
residents information on how to book their own Crime Prevention
Survey. Homewatch Co-ordinators have been advised of the
increase in these seasonal crimes and have been requested to
disseminate the information to their Homewatch Members. A
Road show will also take place on the 31 January when you will be
able to meet the time and other agencies and the crime prevention
officer.
