Current PACT Priorities

You are telling us that the following issues are priorities in your area:

PRIORITY (Updated November 2015)

1. Reduce incidents of theft from unattended motor vehicles

There has been an increase in crime relating to the theft of tools and plant equipment from unattended and insecure builders vehicles.

Your NPT will provide high visibility patrol in hot spot areas to deter criminal activity. We will speak to trades people and members of the community with a view to gathering intelligence to detect offences and we will provide crime prevention advice at the same time.

We will work with our partner agencies and conduct our regular street corner meetings in hot spot locations to give you an opportunity to meet the team and discuss ways to make your area even safer.

2. Continue to work with you to promote a strong and effective Home Watch

Mudeford and Highcliffe already benefits from an established Home Watch.

Your NPT recognises the value of a strong and effective Watch Scheme to help keep you and others safe. With the support of our fellow service providers we’ll continue to support Christchurch Home Watch and encourage community involvement during our Street Corner Meetings and Road Shows.

Nationwide statistics show that Watch Schemes play a significant part in reducing crime and the fear of crime.

3. Protect vulnerable members of our community by targeting ‘Rogue Traders’

Your NPT will work with Trading Standards and other partner agencies to tackle doorstep traders who target vulnerable members of our community. We’ll achieve this by high visibility patrol, identifying and speaking to trades people and members of the community with a view to detecting offences and gathering intelligence.

During our regular street corner meetings we, together with our partner agencies, will provide education in respect of the law when it comes to purchasing goods or services at home.
