Emergency only text service for Dorset - 80999

Please note the following important points about the emergency service number:

 

Triple coloured circleThis service is only for people who cannot use voice phones

Triple coloured circleIt is not an extra service  for contacting the emergency services about other things

Triple coloured circlePlease use the 999 emergency contact number if you are able to

Triple coloured circleYou will get a reply when your message is received

Triple coloured circleThere may be delays before Dorset Police receive the text messages  as we rely on other network systems

Triple coloured circleUntil you get a reply, try other ways to contact the emergency services if you can

Triple coloured circleDorset Police will take action against people who do not use the 80999 service properly

New emergency text contact service for the deaf, hard of hearing and speech impaired in Dorset.

From Monday, 14 September 2009, a new emergency text service will be available for the deaf, hard of hearing and speech impaired to contact the emergency services.

The service is being run nationally as a pilot and during the period of the pilot registered users will be able to send a text message to 999 in an emergency situation. The pilot is due to finish at the end of November 2009. 

Importantly, the service can only be used by those who are registered. If you are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired and you would like to register you need to:

Text the word ‘register’ to 999 or:

  1. Register online at http://www.emergencysms.org.uk/

 

Non Emergency service for the deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired

Non Emergency : 07766 425243 to report less serious crime. (Please note this line is not available between 0300hrs - 0700hrs)
