Police in Blandford are reminding taxi drivers and
vehicle owners to be vigilant and keep vehicles
secure.
The advice comes after two taxis in the town have been broken
into, with a quantity of cash stolen in each incident.
The first incident occurred between 5.45pm and
6.55pm on Saturday 29 December 2012, in Kingston Close in
Blandford. The second occurred at approximately 8pm on Thursday 3
January 2013, along Eastleaze Road.
Blandford Neighbourhood Inspector Shawn
Whitley said: “With two incidents in quick succession I want to
take the opportunity to remind motorists to be vigilant and take
precautions to keep their vehicles and possessions safe.
“Don’t give thieves the opportunity to steal
anything by always removing valuables from your vehicle and keep
doors and windows locked.
“If possible, drivers should park their cars
in well lit areas and always use their vehicle alarm if they have
one.
“I’d urge anyone with any information about
either of these incidents to contact us. Equally, if you see
anything suspicious, or anyone acting suspiciously, please report
it to police.”
Witnesses and anyone with information
should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101. Alternatively, call
the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where
mobile phone tariffs may apply.
