Police in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses and
anyone with information to come forward after a fail to stop road
traffic collision in the Southbourne area of the town.
At approximately 3.32pm on Tuesday 18 December 2012 a collision
occurred between a blue Honda Civic and a pedestrian at the
crossroads of Southbourne Grove and Chestnut Avenue when the
vehicle reversed around the junction on the incorrect side of the
road.
The pedestrian, an 89-year-old Bournemouth
woman, sustained a serious head injury and was taken to Poole
Hospital.
The driver of the blue Honda Civic left the
scene without leaving any details. The vehicle also contained a
woman and a child.
Police Constable Tim Brehmer, of Dorset
Police’s Traffic Unit, said: “I am appealing for anyone who
witnessed this incident, and anyone who is able to identify the
motorist who failed to stop at the scene or has any further
information about the vehicle involved, to contact Dorset Police
urgently.
“I would also urge the driver in question to
do the right thing and speak with the police.
“All calls will be treated in the strictest of
confidence.”
